20240127 Texas Catholic Pro-Life Day

This Saturday is the Texas Catholic Pro-Life Day. We will stage in the narthex at St Louis Catholic Church at 9:30am for a 10:00am Mass. After mass we will be serving hamburgers at Louis the IX hall. Get a burger, drink and desert for $10.00. Best deal in town.

Following lunch proceed to downtown for the Texas Rally for Life. We will be starting at the parking garages on Trinity St north of 12th St, and walk south on Trinity to the new meeting location at 13th & Brazos to march to the Capitol.

We do need help serving burgers after the mass, so if you attend the mass and wish to come over to the hall afterward we would love the help

20231203 Passing of Hellen Horn

It is with great sadness that I inform you that Hellen Horn has gone home to Jesus.

The family is planing her service for December 15th at 11:00am at St Louis. Visitation will be on December 14th between 5:00 and 6:30 with the Rosary to fallow. It will be held at Weed Corley Fish (5416 Parkcrest Dr, Austin, TX 78731).

Obituary will be posted on the funeral home website in the coming days.

Closing Mass for the Austin Diocese 75th Anniversary

Worthy Brother Knights,

On November 18th, Bishop Joe Vasquez will be celebrating the closing of the Austin Diocese 75th Anniversary with a Mass at St Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock. There is a Request for a 4th Degree Fallout by our Bishop. Anyone available to fallout should arrive at the parish no later than 9:00 am for instructions and formation. Mass will begin at 10:15 am. Brother Sir Knight Frank Castillo is currently in a coma and on life support at Seton south Austin. From what I understand, this is a result of open hart surgery he had a couple of weeks ago. Please keep him in your prayers.

Sir Knight Ruben Vosquez has gone home to Jesus. Ruben is a member in good standing with 2244 and a past Grand Knight of the counsel at St. Julia Catholic Church.

The family has now requested a fallout for the Rosery.

Visitation Services will be held on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Chapel, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin Texas 78702.

We will start the honor guard at 6:35 pm and fallout for the Rosary at 7:00pm.

Genaro will be in charge.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julia Catholic Church, 900 Tillery St., Austin Texas 78702.

Services for Mr. Vasquez will conclude after the Funeral Mass at St. Julia Catholic Church on Thursday, September 14th, 2023.

20230821 Monday Rosary Tonight

Hi All,

Long term Knight and retired Army Office Jim Nuckles went home to Jesus August 10th.

There will be visitation on August 21, 2023, beginning at 5:00 p.m., with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Peel & Son Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Ln., Austin, Texas.

The family member in charge of the funeral arrangements has not called for a fall out but has invited the Assemble to the rosary in order that we may honor this long time assemble member. Please ware you counsel golf shirt.

The funeral service will be held on August 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. also at Peel & Son Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Smith Cemetery at School Creek, 4926 FM 2527, Kempner, Texas.

We are having the June meeting this Monday. Louis the IX hall is closed for renovations this months so we will be meeting in the library. 5967 has a BOD planning meeting starting at 6:00pm in the same location. We should be finished by 6:45pm.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think St Louis picked up the February and March meals so if St Mary or St Theresa could grab some sandwiches or pizza it would be greatly appropriated.

The Pasture does not want any meetings on campus during holy week. We have moved the Monday the 3rd Meeting to Monday the 10th.

20230128 Texas Catholic March and Rally for Life

We are having a fall out at St Louis King of France Catholic Church at 7601 Burnet Road in Austin for the 10:00am Mass for Life on Saturday morning as part of Texas Catholic Pro-Life Day. We will be assembling in the Nartex at 9:30am for the 10:00am mass. It would be nice to have some fellow Sir Nights from out of town join us.

After mass we will be able to pick up a BURGER AND DRINK AT THE PARRISH HALL. (Louis the IX Hall) before heading to the March.

NOTE: Counsel 5967 will be providing burgers and a drink for a very reasonable price. It is the best option for lunch in that will enable participants to make it to the March for Life by start time.

CATCH THE BUS

If you do not want to drive around down town looking for the parking aria, Capital Metro Transit has a bus stop almost in front of the church. After lunch, cross Burnet Road at the designated crossing. The bus stop (know as North Cross Station) is right their. Catch bus 803 (SB) down town. Get out at “Capital Station”. It lets you off at the corner of 12th and Lamar. Cross Lamar and you will be about a block and a half from the south east corner of the capital ground. Walk west down the hill and you will see the capital. Once on the Capital Grounds can go to the other side of the capital building and you will see the assemble area.

After the Texas Rally for Life is over, you can go back close to the same place you were dropped off. Look for the stop on the west side of Lamar. Catch the 803 (NB). Get off at North Cross Station right across Burnet from St Louis Church.

I believe the fair is $3.50 each way, or you can get a day pass for $7:00.

Hi All,

We are going to have our Christmas party in leu of our monthly meeting in December. The party will be on December 5th, 2022 in the St Augustine of Hippo room in Louis the IX hall at St Louis Church, 7601 Burnet Road. We plan to be set up by 6:00pm. We will would like to make this a pot luck dinner. We would need some beans, green salad and a desert. The Assemble will provide the meat and sodas. St Augustine of Hippo room can hold about 60 folks so please RSVP. Further more, we would need to know what dish you are bringing so we can make sure that we have everything. Installation of 4th degree officer will be this weekend July 23, 2022 at 12:00 noon at St Albert’s Church on Metric Bolovard in Austin. The Assembly is paying for 14 guest. • Funeral Mass will be at St Louis Catholic Church Wednesday July 6, 2022 at 10:00pm. Family had requested a fallout. I need a count for this fallout. If you plan on making it please contact Alex Ngheim or me. If we have enough people staging will be at 9:15 am in order to salute during the arrival.

20220528 Memorial Mass at St Ignatius

Hi All,

St Ignatius is hosting a memorial day mass on Saturday May 38th at 9:00am. There will be donuts and coffee afterwards. We have been invited to participate. This will be the third year that we have not had this function at Assumption Cemetery. Consequently, this Mass will honor the Fallen Knights from the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Traditionally we have invited the families of the fallen to present them with a token or our application the service our brother has given to assemble 2244 and the Knights of Columbus.

just a reminder that the 4th degree Spring Law Party is coming up on April 24th, 2022 from 2 to 6 pm at “THE FARM”.

The current plan is to have fajitas with bring a side and or adult beverage.

“Denis, it may be some time before I can attend another meeting. Jane had a stroke last December and requires full time attention. I have a caregiver that offers some relief. Additionally, I had a heart attack in January. Two stents were installed within three hours which resulted in only a small loss of heart muscle. (These things are supposed to occur in threes, right?) Anyway, I'm in recovery for a while. Looking forward to joining you all soon. Prayers appreciated.”

Saturday January 22 2022 Hi all, this Saturday is the “Texas Rally for Life”

We will be marching to the Capital. My understanding is that we will lead THOUSANDS of fellow pro-life Texans starting at the parking garages at 14th & San Jacinto.

We will need to to start staging about 12:15pm.

Bishop Joe Vasquez will celebrate a bilingual Mass at 10am at San Jose Parish in South Austin. The Vicar General Fr. James Misko will be celebrating an English Mass at the University Catholic Center near the UT campus. The Rosary will start at 9:20am at both sites.

We will also have a fallout at both location. Plan on staging at 9:20am for a 10:00am Mass.

FN Miguel Torres will be commanding at San Jose and I will be leading at the University Catholic Center.

Come one come all. Assembly 2244 fourth degree is having installation of Officer on July 10th at St Ignatius Church. Installation and meal will be after the 5:00pm Mass. All of 2244 is invited, even if you are not an officer. The more the merrier. The meal will be catered and will be about $13.00 a plate.

Not mandatory for the installation is a fall out for the 5:00pm mass. We will be staging in the back of the church at 4:30. Member should fall out in Knights of Columbus Uniform or dark suite.

This will be one of our first live events since the start of the pandemic, so if you are not busy come and join us.

Dear SK George L Frederick:

Deacon Mike at St. Helen’s has requested a fallout for the funeral Mass of Monsignor Louis John Wozniak. The service will be officiated by Bishop Joe Vasquez and there may be a second bishop as well. For that reason, THIS WILL BE AN ALL HANDS ON DECK EVENT. Color Corps members with full regalia should make every effort to attend. Monsignor Wozniak was very active in the Austin Diocese so this is not just a St Helens event.

The Mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, at St. Helens. Show time is 9:30 AM. We might be joined by other Color Corps members from our district so please make an effort to be on time.

For those interested in attending the visitation and rosary, that will be held on Monday evening, June 14, from 6:00-8:00 PM. We do not plan on participating in that unless several volunteers with full regalia come forward.

As a reminder, we still have the chalice presentation on Tuesday evening at Holy Trinity. The emphasis, however, is making sure we have a strong showing for the funeral Mass. Please let me know if you will be able to attend.
